Hockney
VesselThis photo is from the inside of the infamous Vessel at Hudson Yards. Because of its closure I stood at the bottom and looked up at the surrounding floors and buildings that tower above. I focused on distorting the buildings and the sky above and mostly kept the same form for the Vessel which acts as a lens for whats above.

Looking DownWhile visiting the Empire State Building at sunset the city streets began to light up. I used these to create more paths throughout and buildings. I wanted to make the buildings even boxier but keep the view organized. I wanted to make the different pieces layered feel more together than the Vessels.
StackedThis photo was also taken from the Empire State Building. I wanted to show how far the city goes using the depth of the buildings. I tried to highlight a road that runs in between the buildings and highlight the stacked view.

Surreal Glass Sphere and Polyscapes
Sidewalk SphereI liked the way you can see the sun's rays in this photo so I thought it would look good with a spherical shape. I tried to make the bubble interact with the light realistically. I like how this one turned out with the shadow too.
Path SphereI wanted to use another path to lead the eye to the floating sphere. I also made the colors a lot bolder inside the circle to make it stand out. I think the shading also looks pretty realistic.
Floating TreeI made this one with a larger, more zoomed in sphere. I really wanted it to look like a bubble floating in the park so I shaded it the best I could. I like how it acts as a lens for the tree behind.
TriangleThe city photo is from the top of the Empire State building. I made it b/w and wanted to contrast that with more vivid colors in the background. I like how it creates the uncommon affect of attracting the eye to something less colorful.
Bright FlashThis was one of my favorite images of the city. I liked how bright the photo was so I wanted to keep that them with the landscape in the back which I edited heavily. I also tried to experiment more with the shape of the image in the middle.
OrbThis image is also from New York, I like how it has a lot of cooler tones in the background. I wanted to experiment with the shape again so I kept the image circular. I think it works well because I wanted to show more of the buildings.
